About the Toiletry Drive Program
The Toiletry Drive is one of The L.I.V.E. Outreach's foundational programs, addressing a basic but often overlooked need among children and families in the Detroit metropolitan area. Many families face financial strain that makes access to personal hygiene products, items most people take for granted, a significant challenge.
Our founder, Malika Williams, experienced these challenges firsthand growing up in foster care. That lived experience drives our commitment to ensuring no child in Detroit goes without the personal care essentials they need. The Toiletry Drive program works to bridge this gap by collecting and distributing essential hygiene items to children and families throughout the Detroit area.
We partner with local businesses, churches, schools, and community organizations to gather donations of soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, and other hygiene essentials. Each item is sorted and assembled into age-appropriate kits designed to meet the specific needs of the recipient.
Who We Serve
This program serves children of all ages, from infants to teenagers, as well as the families who care for them. We work directly with community organizations, schools, and individual families in the Detroit metropolitan area to identify where the need is greatest and to ensure that supplies reach those who need them most promptly and with dignity.
How to Support the Toiletry Drive
There are several ways you can help support the Toiletry Drive in Detroit:
- Donate toiletries: Contribute new, unopened hygiene products at one of our collection events or arrange a drop-off by contacting us at theliveoutreach@gmail.com.
- Shop our Amazon list: Purchase specific items that our program needs most and have them shipped directly to us.

- Volunteer your time: Help sort, package, and distribute donations at our events throughout the Detroit area.

Our Impact in Detroit
Since its inception, the Toiletry Drive has distributed thousands of hygiene kits to children and families across the Detroit metropolitan area. Each kit is assembled with care and includes age-appropriate products. Our goal is to ensure that no child in Detroit goes without the basic personal care items they need to feel clean, confident, and cared for. Through this program, we are fulfilling our mission to refresh, renew, and revive the lives of the children and families we serve.
